It's raining here in DC today... a cold, wet, fall rain. The weather reinforces my desire to have at least one major snow event this year. One's fine, but something like the President's Day storm in 2003 would be enjoyable.

Which reminds me... DDOT had a flier (link to PDF version) buried amidst the coupons in this past Sunday's Post called "Preparing for Snow". In it, they boldly proclaim that for a storm of 18" or more, they will have "[t]hru lanes plowed to bare pavement within 36 after end of each storm."

HAAAAAAAA HAHAAAAA HAAAAAAA!

[Breathes. Takes a moment.]

Does anyone else remember 18th Street NW downtown on the Thursday after the President's Day storm? That was 72 hours! And a full two lanes were plowed shut.

Methinks DDOT knows not what it says.
