The worst story of the year

Stuff like getting some of your things taken, as bad as that may be, is really put in perspective when you look at what's going on along the rim of the Indian Ocean. I can't even wrap my head around this death toll... I mean, if you compared it to the population of, say, Washington, it's like saying one out of every ten people in DC would die. And it's only going to get worse... they're saying that tens of thousands are still missing. Tens. Of. Thousands.

And yes, the US is being stingy by pledging only $35 million. When we can spend a quarter of a trillion dollars on a war, I think we can do a little better as a nation than that for a humanitarian purpose.
