Beamed Up.

James Doohan checked out of here today. He will be remembered for doing one thing, and doing it really well. I will also remember him for taking the absurdity of that one thing and embracing it.

My favorite memory of Doohan on TV was the dreadful TV movie Knight Rider 2000. Most of it was forgettable (and mercifully has been by me). But there was a delightful cameo when KITT (in his new body) accidentally stunned Doohan with his new-fangled stun gun. A disoriented Doohan slowly gets up off the ground and starts rattling off classic ST lines in his trademark brogue. Michael Knight, aghast, says, "KITT! You've stunned Scotty!"
