LJ: Duh, with emphasis on the D

As an astute reader pointed out, there is NO DW Parkway in the area. There is a GW Parkway, which is the one I was thinking about. It just goes to reinforce my belief that I am marginally dyslexic.

I got a cell phone today. I always swore that I'd never need one, let alone use one. But with all the driving I've been doing for work of late - in the past week, four trips to Baltimore, two to Delaware, one to downtown DC, and more next week - I've been sort of hurting without one. But we all got new cell phones today, and I was thrilled. Except for the fact that I am becoming laden down with too many mini-computing devices, and I'm afraid if I put anything else on my belt (Palm, Phone, Pager, Multitool), my pants are just going to give up one day.

While stuck on the beltway this afternoon (one of four accidents I saw the aftermath of today), I saw a guy with one of those geekass headsets for his cell phone. I'm asking anyone with a merciful heart to - should they ever see me with one of those - shoot me on the spot and put me out of my trendy misery.

I'm driving back to PA tomorrow to visit my mom and get out of my roommate's way, as he's entertaining for the weekend. It's my first trip back since I moved down here in June. I think I'm just gonna be bored - which will be a pleasant diversion. The way things are shaping up at work, I'll have very little time off between now and February.

You know what kind of irks me? When I call one of my old friends - she now lives in California - just to catch up, and she's in the middle of an argument with her husband and says she'll call the next evening, then the next day emails to tell me that everything's okay on the homefront and repeated the pledge that she'll call that evening. Then I while away a perfectly good evening hoping to catch up, and no one calls.

Yet another reminder to get a life for myself, I suppose.
