Gun Control?

Yeah, right! American's don't need no gum'mit diggin' their mitts into my right to weild a firearm! I mean, it ain't like some four year old is gonna go on a shooting rampage by finding his mom's gun just hangin' out in her purse or anything.

Wait, what's that?

Oh, shit...

We don't need gun conrtol, we just need mandatory gun safety classes when purchasing a firearm. Leaving it in your purse? I'm sure a person could do something stupider, but I don't want to think about that.

I have a handgun in the top drawer of my nightstand. What if someone breaks into my apartment while I'm here? What am I supposed to do? Call the cops? Pray?

Well, I've always been about supporting untenable positions. I mean, John Kerry in '04? Please.

Having been burgled while I was in the apartment (though asleep and undisturbed), I still would never have a gun in my house. I've got plenty of toolboxes and that key ability of being able to act in a crisis. But in the end, that is just my own personal preference, to remain gun-free.

The Second Amendment will never be repealed. At least, it's very unlikely. And stuff like what happened to this kid is the price we have to be alright with paying if we're going to have a society with guns.

That said, I do believe strongly that the Congress made a huge error in letting the assault weapons ban sunset last year. I've yet to hear a valid argument as to why they should be allowed other than, "because the Second Amendment says so." The Constitution also said that black people only counted as three-fifths of a person, but we fixed that.

Anyway, fwiw...

Yeah, you don't need an AK-47 to hunt deer for fuck's sake. Common sense and education, not an outright ban.
