I should be programming radio stations!

Last week, WRQX flipped from their nearly-all-Maroon-5 format (i.e., the preprogrammed Top 40 playlist that repeats every hour, or so it seems) and moved to something akin to the iPod Shuffle format. (That's the format you get when you let your iPod Shuffle - or any other iTunes-esque playlist randomizer - pick the music.) The result has been little short of awesome. I'm still not going to be listening to the radio (beyond WTOP) much, but it's nice that a few PDs across the country have realized that their way of doing things sucks.

To wit, this open letter to Fred Bronson at Billboard:

Dear Fred: Please introduce the Hot 100 Recurrents chart. Or, better yet, let recurrent records onto the Hot 100 again.

For the record, the Milboard iTunes 40 has always been iTunes-shufflized.
