I am any number of things at the results of the election — astonished, relieved, pinching myself because I can't quite believe it — and I have some thoughts still gelling on all of it.

Do me a favor

Please vote. I don't really care who you vote for, as long as you have thought through your decision. Don't vote knee-jerk. Don't vote for someone you know is corrupt. Don't vote for anyone who has lied to you. Don't vote for anyone you're certain wouldn't hold your values as important. Don't vote based on what the worst thing their opponent said about them was. Don't stoop to that level. And please, for the love of God, don't vote based on stupid rhetorical nonsense, like the Kerry thing. Because if you're going to take what Kerry said at face value and believe that he actually believes all of America's troops are stupid, you have to believe the words our President has spoken:

But please vote. There are 600,000 of us who don't get that opportunity, by design, and never will unless we leave our homes.

The Big Show

I was sad when Keith Olbermann left SportsCenter oh so many years ago, and I gave him a tryout when he had his first MSNBC show back in the late 90's ("The Big Show") but wasn't terribly impressed. Neither was MSNBC, and Keith went on hiatus.

Last year (or so), Keith came back, and he has really come into his own. Don't believe me? Go read his blog from yesterday, 9/5, about "The City of Louisiana".
