I'm a Flyers fan, and probably always will be. One of the best times to be a Flyers fan in recent memory had to be the series they played against Pittsburgh last season. The longest game in the modern era of hockey turned the tide against the Pens, and led to one of the most fantastic games ever - if you were a Flyers fan. I taped that game, on May 7, 2000, and I was just watching the tape again.
I've come to decide that I know precisely why I love this game so much. Aside from the hitting and the strategy and the physicality and all of the other things that make the game so fun to watch, there's one moment in a game that keeps me coming back for more. It's like a drug.
It's those two or three seconds immediately before your team scores. The crowd knows - and I mean, without a shadow of a doubt, baby - that a goal is coming, and there is such an unbelievable brewing, explosive energy in those moments JUST before a goal is scored that is like a drug. I can't explain it any better than that.
